Our Mission
RETREAD (noun)- A person who was in the military who returns, or is recalled to duty, in order to perform additional services
Many veterans and public servants who have been removed from duty due to their injuries, experience a sense of guilt that their mission was never completed. A large percentage feel the absence from their old units has left them battle buddies exposed with no one to cover their six. Many suffer from a diminished sense of worth, and even Survivor's Guilt. Suicide and substance abuse plague these warriors as they strive to come to terms with their new lives.
Operation Retread exists to provide an adaptive therapeutic diving program to military veterans and public servants who have received a significant life altering injury in the line of duty, and to provide them a new mission of service through leading and mentoring fellow divers.

ABOUT US
OPERATION RETREAD is a Non Profit Organization (501(c)3), offering an adaptive diving program to disabled veterans and public servants in one of the most pristine diving locations on the Caribbean's Meso-American Reef.
We're a group of Vets that share a feeling of never having completed our mission.
We had been looking for a way to serve our brothers and sisters in uniform and, being divers ourselves, we decided to open a dive resort built around an adaptive dive program that would allow veterans and public servants, with service related disabilities, to support, mentor, and instruct other divers.
We are making this much more than just a boutique dive resort. It has become our path to completing a mission, and can become yours as well.
We intend for this to be a place where our visitors can get in some great diving, have fun, develop lifelong friendships and again be part of a team.

Lessons
We have a cadre of instructors that are teaching, and networking with other veteran adaptive diving programs, to ensure all of our divers enter the program with, at least, the PADI Basic Open Water rating.
For those choosing to take up the mission, Advanced Open Water thru Dive Master training will be offered both at the resort and in the States
